he was...and still is...

he was...and still is...a man of many colours...

he heard the voice of birds
and tuned to their joys
their needs
their understandings

he felt the heartache of a busker
sitting outside a shopping mall
strumming the strings of his soul

he sensed the beauty of clouds
building
the first breath of morning...

he knew the pain of a gambler
locked in the vice
the mesmerising addiction
of spinning reels

he knew the agony of living as an adult with lies
the fragile lining round
a family childhood
that never was his

he knew what it was
to search hopefully
maybe desperately
for some land
some dream Eden
some spiritual haven
where there was a place
just for him

anger plagued him
anger plagued him as a driver
an anger manifested as impatience
anger erupted when he felt
misunderstood
misinterpreted
misjudged

anger drove his moods when he suffered pain

anger filtered through caustic comments
when he felt
someone was not being fairly treated

that someone
became
me

he longed for some love
some value
to give
to receive
even just a little
in return

he was...and still is...a man of many colours
he was... and still is...

my man...

the annual, early morning Fun Run from Safety Beach to Rosebud through Dromana...
Some competitors brought a friend...
The man seems to be coping quite nicely with the run,
but his dog is finding it all a bit tough?...
